Church & Sanctuary - The Lady of the seas
The Lady of the seas (sanctuary and church)
The Lady of the seas is the popularized name of this sanctuary.
The appellation of “Maritime” may refer to the name that the foreigners gave to a sanctuary for the Virgin lady: their patron saint and protector, during their maritime travels for occupation and wars. Thanks to the city of Byblos, one of the oldest countries, that kept its identity of a maritime warlike and commercial port, the travelers gave for one of its sanctuaries the name of “The Lady of Seas“ or “The Lady of Maritime“.
