Byblos Port
The medieval port occupies a natural bay. It was fortified by a rampart, two towers and a chain that blocked the entrance to the port. The merchant ships anchored offshore and transported their goods on small boats.
This port connected Jbeil to the many cities of the Mediterranean, especially Genoa at the time of the Crusades. As for the ancient Canaanite and Phoenician cities, they had another more important port located south of the city.
